Hospital vs Homemade

By now you know my daughter was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday. We will be here at least thru next Monday. We have been chowing down on hospital grub. She is on a regular diet and has been eating the food that they send off the menu. I am eating from the lobby cafe. Now for the commentary. The tray food does not really look that appetizing. I have tried almost everything. The fish wasn’t horrible. The chocolate cake was vile. I now know what bitter chocolate tastes like. In the lobby the sandwiches are made from bread that is double in size. It is like eating a double sandwich. I had the chicken Caesar salad minus the Caesar dressing. The lettuce was fresh, so it made up for the fact that they didn’t have Caesar dressing. I did find something good. The cookies are good. I think all hospitals have good cookies. Cookies and hot cereal. Hospitals can also make good soup. From my experiences in hospitals, there are certain foods that hospitals have an expertise in making. Cookies, soups and hot cereals. I might be missing a few items, but I am sure the longer I am here the more I will remember. But for now what I would give to go home and cook something wonderful. However circumstances what they are, my cooking skills will be on hiatus for awhile. Stay safe my fans and Bon Appetit.

I agree that hospitals do make pretty good desserts. The food at Winthrop is not very good! I can’t wait to go home and eat a home cooked meal!!
