Frozen Yougurt
Frozen yogurt stores are opening all over the country. Different stores open with 16 different flavors or more. The toppings are crazy. The toppings include chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, many different candies, toasted coconut, granola, crushed oreo cookie and more. There are more toppings than yogurt. Many of these frozen yogurt stores are self serve. What that means is that you go in, pick the size container that you want and go to the frozen yogurt stations and help yourself. After you fill your cup with yogurt you move on down to the topping bar and add on anything you please. The cashier zeros out the scale , you are charged by the ounce and $5.00 or more later, you leave the store. The calorie count on the yogurt averages about 35 calories an ounce. You can presumably walk out with 10 ounces of yogurt plus toppings which can tip the scales at over 500 calories, depending on what and how much you choose for your desired yogurt wish of the day. I took my daughter for frozen yogurt for dessert after we had dinner the other night. New Paltz does not have a frozen yogurt shop like they have in Plainview. When the register hit close to $8.00, I was surprised. I asked the cashier how much yogurt I had. I rang out at $1.38. the rest was my daughter, and she had just plain yogurt no toppings. Needless to say frozen yogurt is not the pure healthy, inexpensive snack it claims to be. It is pricey and if you do not watch your amounts fattening as well. I am not saying that I will never go in there again and eat frozen yogurt. I am saying that I will watch what I take. Since I know what 2 ounces looks like which is 1/4 cup, I will try to keep those guidelines and practice what I preach. Stay safe my fans and Bon Appetit.
