Barefoot Contesa Frozen Dinner
On June 21st 2013 Ina Garten did a book signing and a promotion of her new frozen dinner product line. I met Ina Garten and she signed the free cookbook “Fouproof” that she gave away. I purchased three of her dinners. I made the chicken with ginger and garlic. Before I begin I love Barefoot Contessa. I think Ina Garten is brillant. Her recipes on her show and in her cookbooks are great. My daughter and I were contemplating dinner for the night. We decided to try the chicken with garlic and ginger. I read the nutrition label. The package serves two at 390 calories a serving. I followed the directions exactly on the package. I microwaved the rice. I put the sauce in hot water. I stir fried the remaining ingredients in the package and then I combined them. The product looked good from afar, but skimpy at a close up view. Although it would be too much for me to eat, it certainly not enough for my daughter and I. The rice looked fine. The carrots sliced on a diagonal, and the snap peas were good as well. However the chicken was not so fine. The pieces were not consistently formed and tasted terrible. The sauce was gingerly and garlicly. It was also overly sweet. The sweetness was very overpowering. We did not enjoy it. This product needs to be revisited and change up the chicken and the sauce. On a rating of 1 to 10, I give it a 5. Sorry Ina. I purchased the other dinners that you had in Shoprite. I hope they are better. Stay safe my fans and Bon Appetit.

I’ve had them before. They’re super disappointing.
