Mother’s Day: A non food post
Mother’s Day is a holiday to celebrate and appreciate the women in our lives. It is a day to come together and share it with family. Yesterday was very bittersweet. It was the first mother’s day without Aunt Jo and her presence was sorely missed. Not since my mom passed was there such an emptiness at a family gathering. She truly was a woman of valor, and how lucky we were to have her in our family. As the day approached I did realize to count my blessing for the family that I have. How blessed I am to have my brotherinlaw’s mother and sister in my life. These two women have been a blessing to both me and my daughter. They have always been there throughout the years in physical and emotional support. as for my wonderful nieces, they have really grown up. They are funny, sweet wonderful young people, well on their way on life’s road. To my sister, who I love more than words can ever say, I thank my stars every day that I have her. We may fight, disagree, but no one will ever have our backs like each other. She truly is my best friend. I think that she is the one person that has gotten me through life. There are not enough words to tell her how much I truly do love her. I do not think children ever realize how much a parent loves them sometimes until they are gone. I know that my daughter knows how much I love her, but not to the extent of pure unconditional love. Last year when my daughter was at college, I missed her like crazy. I wanted her to be with me on Mother’s Day. This year she was, but not of choice but by circumstance. As much as I was happy she was home, I was truly saddened that she was not at school where she belonged. Loving your child is a full time job, and letting go is the hardest. After all the loss of children from either cancer or senseless violence,I cherish the time with my child. No one can make me as crazy as she can or make me smile like she does. I will tell you that next year, when she is back at college, I will go up for a mother’s day brunch with her. End of story. Since this is bonappetitmom.com, we all went out for Mexican food last night and had a wonderful night. As far as the men in my life Father’s Day is right around the corner. Stay safe my fans and Bon Appetit.
