Salumeria Pomodoro is a casual, fun,  and traditional Italian restaurant located in Huntington, New York. Known for their home cured meats and homemade pasta, they did not disappoint. Upon entering this charming and casual restaurant, we were greeted by the wonderful wait staff, and upon sitting was told of the wonderful specials of the evening. Our wonderful waiter offered suggestions and we trusted them all.

We started with the Grande Selezione, the house special of cured meats and cheeses, that are cured in house. On our beautiful platter was mortadella, prosciutto di parma and sopressata dolce. For the cheeses we had burrata and parmigana reggiano. The platter was beautifully presented with Italian bread and home made focaccia. The meats were tender, and the cheeses were succulent. Each meat and cheese had a distinct flavor and you can taste the difference in every bite. We then moved on to the Raviolo All’Uovo. A homemade ravioli stuffed with ricotta cheese, an egg yolk and covered in a parmesan and  truffle butter sauce.  We sliced the ravioli with a sharp knife and watched the show as the egg yolk came spilling out of the ravioli. We enjoyed the tantalizing flavors and sopped up the yolk and truffle butter with the glorious focaccia, as we ate the ultra decadent ravioli. This was one amazing dish. Up next was Mafaldine Bolognese, homemade curly pappardelle pasta, with beef and pork in a tomato sauce.  It was so rich and velvety. It was fabulous. The Scottadito Di Agnello, pan seared lamb chops, broccolini in a lemon pesto and  potato tart with swiss chard, was absolutely divine. The lamb chops out perfectly cooked, and the potato tart was buttery smooth, and sliced so thin that it melted on your tounge. The swiss chard was glorious. Each part of this dish worked well with one another without overwhelming the other components. A slice of heaven can only describe the mascarpone cheesecake with a crumbled biscotto topping. Every glorious bite played like a well tuned trumpet of flavor.

If you are looking for a fun time, casual dining, and marvelous food a visit to Salumeria Pomodoro is a must. Salumeria Pomodoro is offering a beat the clock pasta game. From 5:30 to 7:00 pm. you can order a pasta and sauce at a price of the time that you order. If you place your order at 5:45, your price is $5.45. This a unique and fun idea that will have customers lining up at the door. The staff are lovely and so eager to please you. A wonderful time will be had by all.
