Grandma Hilda's Meat Sauce
Ingredients
- 2 lbs. ground chuck beef
- 2 28 oz. cans tomato sauce plain
- 1/2 onion minced
- 3 cloves garlic finely minced
- 1 tbsp. garlic powder
- 1 tbsp. onion powder
- 1 tbsp. dried oregano
- 2 tsp. kosher salt divided
- 2 tsp. black pepper divided
- 1 tsp. red chili flakes
- 1 tbsp. EVOO to coat pan
Instructions
- In a pot add the tomato sauce, salt, pepper, crushed red pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, oregano and about 1 clove of the minced garlic. Cook until boil. In another pot, coat the bottom with the evoo. Add the ground chuck, salt pepper, onion and garlic. Break up all the meat until there are no clumps left. Brown all the way through and cook for another 5 to 10 minutes. Now take the chopped meat mixture and combine it with the sauce. Do not drain the fat. Cook together for about an hour. Serve over spaghetti. Serve with my beet, tomato and onion salad. Bon Appetit.
