Bonappetitmom's Cranberry Bars

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. butter unsalted room temperature
  • 3/4 cup Domino granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup Domino brown sugar
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 4 cups AP flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. kosher salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Cranberry Filling

  • 1 cup Bonappetitmom's Cranberry Sauce
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tbsp. corn starch

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F. For the crust put the butter, sugars and vanilla in the mixer. Beast until light and creamy. Slowly add the flour and salt until combined. Take 2/3 and press into a 13x9 inch baking dish with parchment paper overhanging on the sides.Refridgerate for 20 minutes and bake for 20 minutes. Set aside to cool. Add the chopped walnuts and mix to combine. Set aside. Take your cooled filling and lay it across your crust. Top with the remaining crust by scattering it over the top. Bake for 30 minutes. Enjoy with a cup of coffee. Bon Appetit.

Cranberry Filling.

  • Place the cranberry sauce in a sauce pan and heat it up until the boil. Meanwhile make a slurry of the water and cornstarch.Add the slurry and cook until it thickens. Turn off and let it cool in a ice bath.
