I love a good burger and I love a good price. I found both at Black Iron Burger located at West 38th Street in NYC. I was walking back to Penn Station after seeing a show and I was contemplating my options for dinner. I randomly turned down 38th street from 8th avenue and as I was walking I noticed Black Iron Burger. I looked at the menu in the window and I decided to give it a try. It was fabulous. I was greeted by a friendly staff member and seated at a nice table. The restaurant is small, and in the back is a full stocked bar with many offerings and a very large selection of beer.
I ordered the Arugula Mexican Salad. Baby arugula, avocado, pico de galio,cherry tomatoes, red onion, jalapenos, cilantro dressed with a lemon lime dressing. I love a good salad and this one was just delicious. It was so refreshing, crisp and fresh. I could eat that salad every day. I also ordered The Black Iron,a double 4 ounce all natural beef, double horseradish cheddar stout, caramelized grilled onion, special horseradish mayo on a brioche bun. The flavors were insanely good. You can taste that cheddar stout that was so decadent and so delicious.There was a tang from the horseradish mayo that was outstanding. The Masterpiece also ordered is a 4 ounce double patty, all natural beef, swiss cheese, stout caramelized stout grillled onions, organic fried egg, applewood smoked bacon on a brioche bun. It was absolutely amazing. To complete our order were the Loaded Fries, cheddar, scallions, bacon bits, and ranch dressing. The fries were fresh and crisp and loaded with goodness. We shared the order but, I could eat a full order on my own they were that good.
They say good things come in small packages. This is very true when dining at Black Iron Burger. The small restaurant is a powerhouse of goodness. The staff is very friendly, and very eager to please. The food is glorious. The prices are affordable. This is a great organization and they have two other locations. If you are in NYC, you must give Black Iron Burger a try. they won’t disappoint.
