Traditional vs New
I love to cook. I love to experiment with recipes. There are times that you should this and there are times when you should not. Making a brand new dish for a holiday dinner is not always the best thing to do. Think about it, if you are cooking for a group of people who are use to holiday favorites and your brand new dish is not a success, that might not be a good thing. You can do two things. The first thing is to prepare your dish on a small scale and try it on yourself or people who love you before the big holiday dinner. The second option is to prepare both the traditional dish and the new type of dish. This way if the new type of dish does not go over well, you still have your traditional one on hand.Believe it or not although. I made a new type of cranberry sauce. I made it with apple brandy to replace part of the liquid. I also made a new stuffing. It was my traditional stuffing adjusted it a bit. I liked the new versions of my new stuffing and cranberry sauce, but at the end of the day I liked my traditional ones better. Especially because it was Thanksgiving, I feel that my food senses have the tastes of my all time favorite dishes. I think the rest of my family felt the same way. I will try again during the holiday season to try some new dishes. Hopefully I can make a new tradition. I made my corn pudding for a test run 20 years ago, and 20 years later I am still making it. It instantly became a favorite holiday tradition. Stay safe my fans and Bon Appetit.
