Thanksgiving 2013
Thanksgiving 2012 was not pleasant. We were still coping with our losses from Hurricane Sandy (aka MOM). We were also grieving over Aunt Jo and my brother in law Rudy. My sister lost half of her home. My dad was with me and my daughter. My small house was very small, and getting smaller by the minute. Normally Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I love to cook and make my favorite dishes, whether they go over big or miss the mark totally and we laugh about the dish. We all cooked in abundance and we all loved to eat. 2013 was not my favorite year. After the hurricane, came a very personal disaster, my child broke her ankle. She had to take a leave of absence from school, surgery, a 9 day stay in the hospital, 3 weeks in rehab, and physical therapy three times a week. Well I am grateful for the fact that she healed well enough to return to school. For that reason alone I plan to cook for Thanksgiving. I plan to make my grandmother’s stuffing, cranberry sauce and my corn pudding. They are all decadent foods. I am now thinking should I make them as usual or add a new and different twist on them. I am leaning towards the traditional recipes because of the type of year it was, it will be more comforting to make my usual recipes. Just to let you know the traditional recipes are delicious and will be posted on the bonappetiemom recipe page. Stay safe my fans and Bon Appetit.
