Brussel Sprouts seen at the Huntington Fair
My daughter and I went to Huntington’s Fair at Heckscher Park. It is what I think the nicest of all the fairs in my area. Since I go every year, I know how to circumvent the park. I know where the food vendors are located and then we know how to look through the park for all the venders. The most exciting thing we saw was the vines of brussel sprouts growing out of some peoples gardens in the village. I remember the first time I purchased brussel sprouts on the vine from Trader Joe’s. I picked them off the vine and prepped them by cutting off the ends and cutting them in half. I placed them on a sheet tray. I coated them with olive oil salt and pepper and roasted them in a 400° F for about 40 minutes. We scarfed them down. they were sweet and delicious. I happen to say they were one of my favorite vegetables. My nieces adored them. My sister loved them. we could not get enough of them. I cannot wait until I can purchase them in the stores and prepare them. One of autumns greatest gifts is brussel sprouts on the vine. Stay safe my fans and Bon appetit.

I actually didn’t know they had brussel sprouts at the Fall Festival. I’ve been going for years now and I always just thought they only had unhealthy foods like Philly Cheese Steaks and Fried Oreos (to name only a couple)! That’s really interesting to know that there’s more variety there than one would have first thought. Thanks for the insights, and I’ll definitely keep this note in mind!

The brussel sprouts were not being sold at the fair. I saw them in some gardens asI was walking around the area. I wish I would have known that brussel sprouts grew in NY. Next year I will definitely plant them in my garden.
