Cooking For One Again

By : | 1 Comment | On : October 1, 2013 | Category : Uncategorized

Cooking for one is not easy. I find it much easier to cook for a crowd than just for myself. When I go to the supermarket, especially in the meat section, there is never just one chicken cutlet, or one piece of chicken sausage or one turkey burger. Try to purchase one pork chop.  If I want a rotissere chicken, the I usually need to buy a whole one. Even the fish department, sells by the pound, and it is very hard when you ask for one serving size. In order to make a salad with different vegetables, you will always purchase more than you will use. It is also true about baked goods. If I want a piece of fresh raisin bread, I would need to buy the whole loaf. I know that just sounded pathetic, but is the truth. I feel if I want to eat fresh cooked food, I need to go to the market more often than I used to go. I will purchase a chopped salad, and I will get two meals from it. If I want a cookie, that I can purchase by the amount but only in some supermarkets. Sometimes it is hard to adjust to cooking for one. I miss shopping and cooking for more. I will  readjust my shopping and cooking habits, but as soon as I do my daughter comes back. Yeah. I have a fridge full of condiments and a freezer full of leftovers. Since  we are now into October, and for the last two consecutive years, I have lost power, I plan to rid my freezer of food and shop as little as possible. I do not wish to lose food in case of a power loss again. Time to pick out something for dinner. Stay safe my fans and Bon Appetit.
