Ina Garten at Shoprite
Yesterday morning, I was checking my e-mail, and I gave the Plainview Patch a look see. I saw a note that Ina Garten would be at my local Shoprite, signing and giving books to the first 100 people that attend. This event was to promote her new book Foolproof and her new line of Barefoot Contessa frozen gourmet entrees. I quickly got dressed and went to Shoprite. I was given the last wristband, which meant that I was getting the last free signed book. Inside Shoprite, we were brought in by five and met Ina as she signed our book and took pictures with those who requested. I mew her assistant Barbara Libath and her friend Frank Newbold. I recognized both of them from Ina’s show Barefoot Contessa. Shoprite also offered a sampling of Ina’s five cheese penne. My daughter thought the penne was delicious. I enjoyed it too. Shoprite was offering a $1.00 sale on the entrees and Contessa Foods offered a $2.00 coupon as well. I purchased 3 different entrees. When I met Ina I told her that I loved her show and she also thanked me. I also told her that she is the most well spoken of all the hosts on the Food Network. She thanked me and told me that she really hates bad grammar. We then took a picture and she signed Barefoot Contessa Family Style, one of her cookbooks that I brought from home. My daughter told her she enjoyed her recipes as well especially her croissant bread pudding. Ina stated “Yes that is a good one”. It was a lovely moment that I will always remember.
