She finally liked my meatballs Yeah!
I have made turkey meatballs in many ways. I have served them to my daughter. I would ask for a critique of my meatballs. Normally I get the response that they are just okay. When I ask her if she wants them for dinner she normally says whatever you want. I then just make them because I like them. I try to change the recipe hoping that she will like them. But usually to no avail. Yesterday I decided to make them again, even though I know she was not happy with my decision to prepare them for dinner. We had a busy day yesterday, and by the time I got home I was tired and turkey meatballs are very fast and easy to prepare. I took the ground turkey and put it in a bowl. I was not in the mood to chop garlic or to saute an onion. I decided to grate the onion and the garlic into the meat. I also added an extra egg. I added my usual arsenal of salt, pepper, and breadcrumbs. I added about 1/4 tsp. of nutmeg. I baked them for 35 minutes. I made pasta with Fairway’s marinara sauce. I roasted spinach with evoo, salt and pepper. To my surprise when I asked her about the meatballs, she told me she really liked them. I asked her if she was saying that just to be nice, but she said she really did like them. She said she really liked the whole dinner. After she declared her love of my meatballs, I began to wonder what did I do to make this recipe different. I am thinking it was probably the grating of the onion. Since I did not saute them, there was no extra evoo. They were not greasy. I also think the addition of the extra egg might have been a contributing factor. I do not think they were the moistest meatballs I ever made but they were definitely not the driest I ever made either. Whatever I did my daughter liked them and that is what is important to me. I might even get a blog comment on them today. I can only hope. Stay safe my fans and Bon Appetit.
