Take Out Food
While my daughter was in the hospital and in rehab, I did not cook. I picked up lunch and dinner at many of the local supermarkets and restaurants. My main hits were Fairway and Ivarone. Both offered wonderful foods and both had some duds. As far as hot prepared foods Fairway was better on the prepared proteins. The chicken marsala from Fairway was better seasoned and flavorful. Ivarone had better roasted vegetables. They were roasted and crisp. In terms of cold prepared salads, I enjoyed Fairway much more. Both offered prepared wraps and panninis that were very good. I enjoyed the chicken wrap with fresh mozzarella and pesto from Fairway. I also enjoyed the roast beef wrap with crispy onions and a bourbon espresso sauce from Ivarone. I enjoyed the salads from both Fairway and Ivarone. If I had to pick a salad dressing that I enjoyed more it was the house balsamic vinagerette from Ivarone. It was sweeter versus the more spicy one from Fairway.I can attribute that I could have been craving more sweets than normal. I do love the dressing from Fairway on a regular basis. Ivarone did offer some salads that Fairway did not, for example the Frisse salad with oranges and blue cheese. I did enjoy the Cobb salad from Fairway. I love the fresh chopped salad from Fairway that Ivarone does not offer. I enjoyed my plain fresh made turkey sandwich from Ivarone that Fairway does not offer. I loved the brick oven pizza from Ivarone. In terms of appetizing, I give that to Fairway on pricing and quality. In terms of baked goods both Fairway and Ivarone were good. The Russian chocolate cake from Fairway is delicious. Ivarone had a butter crumb cake that was marvelous. Both Fairway and Ivarone are wonderful specialty markets. It is just a matter of getting to know what both have to offer and your personal preferences from each establishment. Stay safe my fans and Bon Appetit.
