T was the night before Xmas and all through the house everyone was stirring even Mr.Max.  So I got up out of bed and I made some food.  I made a ham and sweet potato.  I made a glaze for the ham of brown sugar, dijon mustard and honey.  I cooked the ham for 20 minutes per pound at 350 degrees. I took the sweet potatoes and I scrubbed them, put them in tin foil and I literally threw them in the oven.  I love brussel sprouts. Vegetables are so easy. Just a little olive oil, salt and pepper and roast them in the oven at 425 degrees for 45 minutes.  So good. Enough said. I really feel that fancy food is over rated. Simple basic food  is just so satisfying. Nothing beats a plain roast chicken. Yes I love to play with different types of soups and sauces, but nothing is better then the smell of simple food on a cold winter day. What I love to do is to make a turkey or a chicken and then use the leftovers for chili or in this case, I plan to make split pea soup with the ham and the bone.  Split pea soup on its own is wonderful, but add a ham bone and it takes it to another level. I think that is one of the reasons that I love to cook. I love to see foods used to its fullest capacity. Food is to precious to be wasted.  With that being said, to all of you following my blog, stay safe and BonAppetit.
