Happy Birthday to me……..
Wow, I am at my sister’s house celebrating my birthday. This is the first timeI have had to post a comment since Hurricane “mom’ Sandy hit. There is so much devastation and loss. My sister has lst so much, and yet we are here to celebrate my birthday. This calendar year has had so much loss that cannot come back, yet we manage to stop for a moment and gather a birthday celebration.
After the storm hit,and I found a leak under my kitchen sink. I lost power at 4:34 on Oct. 29th,2012. I was watching barefoot on food network rewinding when Ina was making her orange buttercream frosting, and I knew it was gone. That was the easy part of the day.The rest was not. The winds hit and I went to my neighbor to hang. It was so quiet in her house,as compared to mine. As I was looking out her door, I started to notice something eerie. I said “I don’t see my tree”.I thought this is so strange. Where is my tree. I ran to my house, went to my backyard, and my tree was down and alot of wires. I called LIPA, and then as I was reporting this toa LIPA rep, began teling me of my financial responsibilities of fixing my meter. I said to her “Do you have any more good news to me tonight?” As my tree was lifting so was the water level at my sister’s home. I was out of power and she was almost out of home. There is so much to say, so much time has gone by, I cannot start a story, and stop in midstream. So for now be safe and BonAppetit.
