Bon Appetit
Hi All,
I am a single mom and my daughter just started her senior year in high school. I live in suburban NY. It is probably one of the most expensive places to live in the country. Taxes can go from $10,000 to about $30,000 a year. This year has scared me skinny. After going to the college fair in her sophomore year, I have lost over 75 pounds and about 7 sizes. I stopped being hungry worrying about college. I lose lost a career, a bankruptcy, and did I mention no child support. With her upcoming departure to college and the expenses that are involved, I need to recreate myself again. Reinventing yourself in your twenties and reinventing yourself in your fifties are two different matters. If I only knew the weight was going to come off I would have worked out. Oh well. So what does a girl, no I mean a woman do? I have a masters education in nutrition and I was a former teacher. I have a few ideas, one that i will be picking over the next few days. If you are reading this have a wonderful night. Please feel free to write your thoughts to me.
It’s 2 years later and I’m still thin. What a surprise! Who would have thought being scared skinny and eating nutritionally sound foods would pay off. I’m still scared but I must say that as my daughter who is now a sophomore in college, my life has quieted down . A bit too much actually. I thought Mr Max my 12 yr old golden lab was a goner but he is doing better now than all summer long. I miss H.S. It was so much fun and easier going through high school the second time around. Freshman year of college was still a waiting game of when will the other shoe drop.Well it didn’t
Now I am a parent of a sophomore, and lost. With way too much time on my hands I needed something to do. At 55 my options are limited.I know how to teach and I know how to cook. I know a few more things but I don’t think I could blog about that without getting a big fallout.
That is how BONAPPETITMOM got started. I want to be able to teach people how to eat. Fast foods are killing us. People don’t know what portions are or how important it is to measure their food. People don’t take the time to cook properly. Working full time I get it. Being alone in the house I get that too. I know that if I don’t do something now I never will.
I have designed BONAPPETITMOM to teach people how to plan menus, prepare healthy foods and to lose weight. I have a BS in nutrition and MS in nutrition education.
I can be reached right now at jane@bonappetitmom.com Write me to get more information.
Yes 55 and lost is now 55 rejuvenated and reinvented. Sometimes in life the smallest set back, can relight a fire in your belly. But even though I have used my nutritional training in my own life, my families and close friends, I want to go public.
Now I have a domain name and a website. How chic! I have now officially joined the 21st century.
How exciting. For the first time in over 25 years I love what I am planning to do.I have wonderful plans and thoughts about ways to get this off the ground.
My website has been challenging to make but with an opened mind and positive energy, my work in progress will soon become a work of art.
