Rustic, eclectic, fabulous and classic describes The Clam Bar. In an isolated spot on Rte. 27 East on the left hand side of the road, is The Clam Bar. The outside looks like a shack, with outside tables. You literally pull off the road and there you are. Wit h it’s white painted building, and the food choices in red, it is a very humble looking building. There is no indoor seating. After we parked, we walked over and saw a sign wait to be seated. Our server gave us menus and showed us a chalkboard with their specials of the day. We took the opportunity to see the lovely selection of dishes on their menu. For a small establishment the menu was quite varied.

We started off with soups. We ordered the New England Clam chowder and Spicy Crab and Sweet Corn Chowder. The chowder was thick and chock full of clams and potatoes. The soup was so fresh and flavorful. The spicy crab and corn chowder was wonderful. You got a kick from the spicy crab and the corn was sweet and crunchy. I ordered the lobster roll and grilled tuna sandwich with sweet potato fries. the lobster roll was packed full of lobster goodness. It was sweet and perfectly seasoned. It was rich and decadent. Served with a side of homemade cole slaw it was truly fabulous and definitely worth the trip. The tuna was cooked perfectly. The fresh tuna was presented with beautiful grill marks and an abundance of sweet potato fries, fresh and crispy. The tuna was also served with their wonderful cole slaw. For dessert, we ordered the key lime pie. This had to be the best key lime pie, I ever had. The Clam Bar gets their desserts flown in from Key West Florida. It was magnificent.

Since this is an outdoor establishment, I can only tell you, that the view of the sky, and the road just takes you back to the simple times. There are many tables, with umbrellas during the hot summer days. With no wifi, you are able to enjoy a wonderful meal and good conversation. The food is so fresh and every dish is made to order. The Clam Bar is seasonal. It is opened from April thru September. It is closed on days with bad weather.  The service at The Clam Bar was fantastic. Our server knew the menu and was able to guide us through ordering the freshest and most famous dishes. The Clam Bar has been opened for over 30 years. It is historic, iconic and truly a staple of the Hamptons. A visit to the The Clam Bar is a must when traveling out to Amagansett. You will have a one of a kind experience.
